What was originally the ballast plant of the old Northern Light fluorescent bulb company just north of downtown is now the corporate headquarters for Ogden & Company, Inc. This office houses both the corporate offices and the Real Estate Management, Accounting, and Commercial Leasing and Brokerage Divisions of the Company. Hugging the Milwaukee River, the shell of a building, basically four walls of cream city brick with open window cavities, was a monumental task to renovate. Now the building not only meets and exceeds the expectations of Ogden employees and guests, but has also enhanced the neighborhood in which it sits.
The beautifully renovated building was designed within a historical structure while creating ultimate functionality as an office setting. The development created an extension to the Milwaukee Riverwalk project, waiting anxiously to be connected on the north and south. The public access dock completes the connection for Brady Street patrons from the River to Lake Michigan. As part of the River Sculpture project of the Milwaukee Riverwalk District, an art sculpture has been placed strategically for all to enjoy.
A 64-foot genuine rowing scull is suspended from the ceiling inside the building. The scull supports the river theme outside the building. It also however supports the corporate mission of teamwork within the company, with the neighbors and the community.
